ABC Supply Stadium

Beloit, Wisconsin
by Jones Petrie Rafinski

ABC Supply Stadium & District Master Plan has received many awards, including the 2021 Project of the Year and Project of Distinction from the Associated Builders & Contractors of Wisconsin, The Daily Reporter's "Top Project" in 2021, and the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation's "Best Downtown Revitalization Projects of 2021" in the Best New Building Project category.

The School & Corporate Campus Issue of Landscape Architect and Specifier News saw many firms submit their projects for feature consideration. ABC Supply Stadium & District is one of several great projects we are excited to showcase on LandscapeArchitect.com.

Faced with the potential loss of its Minor League Baseball team due to an aging facility, the city leveraged this challenge as an opportunity to catalyze downtown revitalization, reconnect to the Rock River, and reclaim a long-neglected brownfield site.

The project began with a comprehensive Master Plan that established a walkable, pedestrian-first Entertainment District. It strengthened regional trail connections, improved multi-modal circulation, and organized a cohesive network of public spaces designed to support economic resilience. Positioned just minutes from downtown, at the Wisconsin-Illinois state line, the stadium serves as both a community anchor and regional connector.

The stadium site presented complex environmental challenges, including contaminated soils, buried infrastructure, and vapor hazards from decades of industrial use. Careful remediation strategies and sustainable stormwater solutions enabled the safe transformation of the site while minimizing environmental impact.

Constructed as a 3,500-seat, multi-use civic venue, the stadium features a 360-degree concourse, event lawns, plazas, trail connections, public art, and flexible outdoor spaces that support concerts, markets, festivals, and more.

A distributed parking strategy utilizing over 900 existing downtown spaces minimized impervious surface coverage while strengthening local business engagement. Material choices reference Beloit's industrial and rail history through locally sourced brick and linear hardscape patterns, grounding the project in local identity.
