Course Description:
With the implementation of the California Model Water Efficient Landscape Ordinance the Water Replenishment District & WaterWise Consulting Inc. sees a great need to train landscape professionals on the importance of sustainable landscape designs and practices. We will address the California Model Water Efficient Landscape Ordinance (AB 1881). This presentation contains information about water efficient landscape design, irrigation efficiency needs, along with other practical but obligatory water use conscious landscape goals. It is important to have landscape professionals follow local city guidelines on the mandated California ordinance. This presentation is intended for landscape personnel to minimize or completely stop overspray and runoff in the landscape is highly stressed. The need to select water-efficient plants, evaluate landscape conditions, and ongoing landscape maintenance plans are also discussed for optimum water conservation.

Biography:
Mr. Garcia is the Director of Education Services for WaterWise Consulting Inc., conservation programs. He assists in development of landscape management educational programs for water agencies throughout the state of CA, Nevada, & Washington. Mr. Garcia is currently working with The Water Replenishment District (WRD) to implement their Eco Gardening & Eco Pro Programs. These programs instruct city, district & water agency staff, homeowners, and landscape professionals on water efficient landscaping techniques as well as indoor water conservation measures. He holds a B.S. degree in Ornamental Horticulture from Cal Poly Pomona and is a Certified Landscape Irrigation Auditor through the Irrigation Association.
