Course Title: Wind and trees (PAPA, ISA)

Biography:
Ruben Green is president of Evergreen Arborists Consultants, Inc. He has over 25 years experience in the landscape industry. He specializes in all aspects of tree care from installation and maintenance to disease diagnosis and treatment. His extensive background includes hands on experience in landscape maintenance, landscape construction and irrigation management.
Mr. Green is an expert witness on tree litigation matters and a teaches a class on Urban Arboriculture Practices at the University of California Riverside, Extension. He is currently working on a field research project, The Effects of Below Grade Planting Depth on Trees, in conjunction with the University of California Cooperative Extension and Cal Poly Pomona University.
Course Description:The Wind and Trees lecture will discuss how different pruning treatments reduce potential damage to the tree by the wind loads. In addition, I will also discuss Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and the role it plays on effective pest management in preventing windthrow and tree failures. Class lecture will include information on the life cycles of pests, thresholds, monitoring and identifying pests, prevention and control. Case studies are cited.
